Amazing combination of flavours. And this Malay recipe with Chinese roots is very easy and fast too. I got it even without asking for it. It was enough to mention in the restaurant I was enjoying this dish that it is really delicious and that I love cooking and I got the recipe together with the bill.
Mix oyster sauce, soya sauce and sesame oil. Add beef and let marinade 5 minutes.
Heat up oil in a wok, stir fry ginger, garlic, chilies, onion and white parts of spring onions for about 30 seconds.
Add beef, green parts of spring onions and fry shortly on a high heat until the beef gets brown.
Add salt, pepper and chili powder, mix and serve.
Serve with rice garnished with fried onions.
For 4 portions:
- 400g beef cut on 1 bite pieces
- 3 tbs oil
- 1 middle sized onion cut on 1-2 cm pieces
- 3 cloves garlic crushed
- 2 cm fresh ginger cut on strings
- 2 green chilies chopped
- 1 red chili chopped
- 2 spring onions cut on wide strings
- 1 tbs oyster sauce
- black pepper
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tbs sesame oil
- 1 tbs light soya sauce
- fried onions to garnish
