Goraka - Indian tamarind

Goraka is a fruit commonly used in Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine. It gives a sour flavour to the dish. It works as a meat tenderiser used mainly in meat and fish curries.

In Sinhala it is called goraka. Botanical name is Garcinia quaesita Pierre. It is known as Indian tamarind too. If you don`t have it, you can substitute it with tamarind.

It is used in reduction diet as well.
